Why this course matters
A successful environmental authorisation process begins long before a report is submitted. It depends on correctly understanding the proposed project, identifying potentially triggered activities, recognising site sensitivities and designing a logical assessment process. This masterclass brings these elements together so participants can approach Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Basic Assessment work with greater structure and confidence.
Participants are guided through the practical reasoning that underpins an application: defining the project, interrogating Listing Notices, using screening information critically, planning specialist inputs, structuring the Basic Assessment Report and managing public participation. Attention is given to the points where applications commonly lose time or clarity, including incomplete project descriptions, late design changes, poorly integrated specialist findings and weak links between impacts, mitigation and conclusions.
